Equipwell

Supplied in partnership with Equipwell (Malaysia).

A filter press pumps slurry into a pack of plates clamped together by a hydraulic closing unit. Liquid passes through the filter cloth on each plate and leaves as filtrate; solids build up in the chambers as a cake. When the chambers are full, the press opens and the cake drops out.

Chamber or membrane?

Recessed-chamber presses are the simple, robust choice: filtration runs until flow drops off and pressure reaches its maximum, then the cycle ends.

Membrane presses add a flexible membrane to every other plate. After filtration, the membranes are inflated with compressed air or water to squeeze the cake. The result is a drier cake and a shorter cycle, and the press can add a cake wash and air blow-down when the process needs them.

Sized from your slurry, not a catalogue

The right plate size, number of chambers, cloth and cycle depend on how your slurry actually filters. We run pilot filter press tests on your material to measure cake solids, cycle time and filtrate quality before we size the full-scale press.
