Tapisteknik

Supplied in partnership with Tapisteknik (Malaysia).

A pressure leaf filter is a closed vessel holding a set of filter leaves: flat frames covered in fine wire mesh. Liquid is pumped in under pressure, passes through the leaves and leaves through a common manifold, while solids (often with a filter aid such as bleaching earth or diatomaceous earth) form a cake on the leaf surfaces.

Because the vessel is closed, leaf filters handle hot, flammable or odorous liquids safely and with little operator exposure.

Wet or dry cake discharge

  • Dry discharge: the cake is blown dry, then shaken off the leaves by vibration and dropped through a bottom door or flap. Good where the cake is disposed of or reused as a solid.
  • Wet discharge: the cake is sluiced off with liquid and pumped out as a slurry. Simpler, and suited to processes where the cake goes to further treatment.

We also supply replacement filter leaves for existing leaf filters.
