Palm Oil & Oleochemicals

Screening crude palm oil, filtering bleaching earth, and separating stearin and olein in dry fractionation.

Palm oil processing relies on solid-liquid separation at almost every step. In dry fractionation, the oil is cooled to crystallize the higher-melting stearin, and a membrane filter press then squeezes the crystals to separate the olein. The squeeze pressure directly affects olein yield and stearin quality.

In refining, pressure leaf filters remove spent bleaching earth. Dry cake discharge keeps oil losses in the cake low and makes the cake easier to handle.
