A vibrating screen separator uses a motor with offset weights to vibrate a round screen deck. Liquid or powder fed onto the deck passes through the mesh, while oversize material travels to the edge and out through a separate outlet. A double-deck unit splits the feed into three fractions in one pass.
In palm and coconut oil mills, vibrating screens remove fibre, shell and other coarse solids from crude oil before clarification.
