A sparkler filter holds a stack of horizontal filter plates inside a closed stainless steel shell. Because the plates are horizontal, the filter cake rests on them and stays in place even if flow stops, which makes sparkler filters forgiving for batch work.
They are typically used as a final polishing step, with filter paper, cloth or a light filter-aid precoat, where a small footprint and easy cleaning matter.
