Inside the
crossflow filter.
A membrane separates the liquid. Rotating discs help keep its surface clear. Take the system apart to see how each assembly contributes.

One system. Different jobs.
Use the process selector above the drawing to explore filtration, backwash and cleaning.
Feed → disc surface → hollow shaft → permeate outlet
Cross-flow filtration
Feed moves across the outside of rotating discs. Under trans-membrane pressure, permeate crosses the discs, enters the hollow shafts and leaves through the collection route; retained product returns to the feed loop.
- 01
A volumetric feed pump sends product from the feed tank to the filtration bell.
- 02
The geared drive rotates the hollow shaft and the disc pack inside the bell.
- 03
Permeate crosses the discs from outside to inside and is collected inside the hollow shafts.
- 04
The permeate moves to the buffer or extraction tank, while retained product returns toward the feed tank.
Permeate tank → hollow shaft → disc surface → backwash outlet
Permeate backwash
The extraction pump sends permeate in the reverse direction to clear the filtering surface. This is the routine backwash path described separately from chemical cleaning.
- 01
The permeate extraction pump draws from the collection side.
- 02
Valves redirect permeate back toward the hollow shafts and disc pack.
- 03
The reverse flow crosses the filtering elements and helps release accumulated material from the surface.
- 04
The controls return the equipment to its configured filtration path after the backwash phase.
Dosing pump → cleaning circuit → filtration surfaces
CIP chemical cleaning
Clean-in-place uses a chemical dosing pump for cleaning products. It is a separate cleaning function from permeate backwash; the chemical recipe and sequence depend on the installed configuration.
- 01
The control system selects the CIP phase and its configured valve positions.
- 02
A peristaltic dosing pump adds the specified cleaning product to the CIP circuit.
- 03
Cleaning liquid contacts the filtration path according to the installation’s CIP procedure.
- 04
The equipment is returned to its operating configuration after the configured cleaning sequence.
